Mr. Ahmad Haeri, the suffering father of Shahin Haeri, a member of the Mojahedin-e Khalq Organization (MEK, MKO) in Albania, wrote a letter on behalf of himself and his wife to the World Health Organization (WHO), expressing concern about their daughter’s health.
The text of the letter is as follows:
Representative of the WHO in Albania
Greetings and best regards,
I am Ahmad Haeri, the father of Shahin Haeri, who is now in the isolated and remote camp of the MEK in Albania with no communication with the outside world.
It goes without saying that my wife and I have not seen our daughter for so many years and we have not heard her voice on the phone and we have not even received a message from her, and this has always bothered us. But now the news that worries us the most is that our daughter has the disease caused by the Covid-19 virus and is living in an acute condition, and the health conditions inside the camp are also unfavorable.
My wife and I are both over 90 years old. As Shahin’s parents, we have the desire at the end of our lives to hear her voice and hear about her health. We are not able to travel due to old age and illness, and of course Albania does not allow us to do so. But is it impossible for her to make a phone call?
I ask you not to neglect any action that is conceivable and fruitful in order to alleviate the worries of the old and elderly mother and father and let the news of our daughter to reach us and to provide the possibility of communication.
There must be fathers and mothers among your staff who are always worried about their children and asking about their condition when they are sick. So you know very well how a mother and a father feel about this. Is it justified to prevent members of the MEK from contacting their families?
Ahmad Haeri
