Defectors of the Mujahedin Khalq Organization living in Kermanshah province asked for the release of the detained members of the Association for the Support of Iranians Living in Albania (ASILA).
These members of Nejat Society who could manage to escape the MEK in past years wrote a letter to the Albanian authorities asking for the immediate release of six members of ASILA who have been detained for near two months in a detention center in North of Tirana.
“Each of these detainees lost decades of their lives in the MEK and now that they started to build a normal life in the free world outside the MEK camp, they have been victimized by the conspiracies created by the MEK cult,” they wrote.
The signatories of the letter stated that the only fault of ASILA members is that they want their former friends –who are still taken as hostages in Camp Ashraf 3—learn about their experience. “Where in the world is this a crime?” they ask. “Why don’t the Albanian Police make a clear accusation against these people? Why are they and their families still kept in conditions of uncertainty?”
