Thirty-six members of the People’s Mojahedin Organization of Iran (PMOI) are due to stand trial in al-Khalis, according to an informed source. Last month, clashes erupted between Iraqi security forces and PMOI members at Camp Ashraf, the headquarters of the organization, leaving 10 members killed and 400 others wounded, according to the organization’s media spokesperson.

Iraqi police have arrested 36 Iranian exiles on rioting charges after clashes with Iraqi forces..Mehdawi said some of the 36 would be released but others would have to face trial.”We have two seriously injured Iraqi police. A number of saboteurs, who were arrested for creating post-vote mayhem in Iran, have exposed their links with the terrorist Mujahedin Khalq Organization (MKO/MEK/PMOI)…Iranian security officials, in the days that followed the unrest, identified and arrested a large number of MKO members, who later confessed that they had been trained and equipped in Iraq to create post-election mayhem in the country.
The arrestees confessed that they have been guided by some of the ringleaders of MKO in Britain and were ordered to destruct public amenities, including gas stations, buses and Basij barracks. These rioters also confessed that they were trained in Iraq and infiltrated into Iran to make riots. The MKO, whose main stronghold is in Iraq, is blacklisted by much of the international community, including the United States.
