Women Warriors of the Mujahedeen Khalq. Are They Terrorists, a Cult or Both?

I first started researching this group[MKO/MEK/PMOI] when I learned that Jason Kenney had spoke at one of their rallies. When it was pointed out to him that they were on Canada’s Terrorist list, he shrugged it off, claiming not to know. I thought it might have something to do with Christians United for Israel.Though the People’s Mujahedin of Iran sound more like a cult, I thought the story of these women was rather interesting. They are still on a terrorist list, but that may change soon. After reading this, I’m not convinced it should.

MKO confirms arrest of members in Tehran

The anti-Iran terrorist group MKO has confirmed that five people arrested after last month’s riots in Tehran are members of the organization. The Mojahedin Khalq Organization/MEK/PMOI has told Amnesty International that the five were detained in the Iranian capital after the Ashura day riots on December 27. The group says they had come from their one remaining base in Iraq.

Washington backed MKO death threat for Iraqi network head

The Mujahedin-e Khalq Organization (MKO), an anti-Iran terrorist group based in Iraq, has threatened to assassinate the chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Iraqi Media Network (IMN), Hassan Salman. The Board of Trustees has decided to take legal action against the MKO/MEK/PMOI in an Iraqi court, the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) reported on Thursday.

Neglected points in RAND’s report on MEK

RAND National Defense Research Institute Corporation has published a comprehensive report on MEK in 2009… The fact is that the US has failed to refer to a novel point regarding the organization in these statements yet has reiterated the analyses and viewpoints of separated members as well as political opposition trends that have managed to reveal some facts on the organization for more than two decades. However, the efforts made by the US to develop a realistic comprehension of NKO/MEK/PMOI imply the well-intentioned inclination of the US in investigating the true nature of Mojahedin.
